Sandy, UT - HeroDevs, the trusted leader in long-term support for end-of-life open-source software, today announced a strategic partnership with Webtide, the core maintainers of the Jetty web server and servlet container, and CometD the scalable WebSocket and HTTP based event and message routing bus. This collaboration ensures that organizations relying on Jetty and CometD can maintain secure, compliant, and stable operations through HeroDevs’ Never-Ending Support (NES) program.

Under the partnership, HeroDevs and Webtide will deliver enterprise-grade patching, security updates, and compliance assurances for Jetty and CometD versions that have reached or are nearing end of life. This ensures that customers can continue to run critical infrastructure built on Jetty and CometD without disruption or compliance risk.

Addressing the Open-Source Maintenance Gap

Jetty is a lightweight, high-performance web server embedded in thousands of enterprise and cloud applications worldwide.

CometD is a popular scalable, clustered web messaging bus for building real-time, event-driven web applications using technologies like WebSocket and HTTP push. It provides libraries for Java and JavaScript to handle low-latency messaging, like in chat or online gaming applications.

As with many open-source frameworks, once a version reaches end of life, security coverage ends—leaving organizations vulnerable to emerging threats.

“Our partnership with HeroDevs will enable best-in-class support for companies running on EOL versions of Jetty and CometD. Together, we’re ensuring that organizations can continue to operate securely and confidently while planning their path forward at their own pace,” said Jesse McConnell, CEO of Webtide.

HeroDevs’ Role: Never-Ending Support

HeroDevs’ NES program delivers ongoing security fixes, CVE remediation and compliance documentation for versions of open-source software that are no longer community-supported. Through this partnership, NES for Jetty and NES for CometD customers will receive:

  • SLA-backed patch delivery and security monitoring
  • Production-tested updates aligned with Jetty release versions
  • Full audit-ready documentation and compliance reporting
  • Extended lifecycle coverage for critical Jetty deployments

“With this partnership, organizations running EOL versions of Jetty can keep their infrastructure protected and predictable,” said Joe Eames, VP of Strategic Partnerships of HeroDevs. “It’s another example of how we’re building a more sustainable, secure open-source ecosystem along with incredible partners by our side.”
